Collection of three mementos of the Burney family; includes: 1) a tiny ivory egg given by General d'Arblay to his wife, Frances (Burney) d'Arblay (1752-1840); 2) a cylindrical paper box bearing an inscription by Mme. d'Arblay, 1813; and 3) an ivory paper knife belonging to Admiral James Burney (1750-1821).

James Burney was second Lieutenant with the Adventure, which accompanied the Resolution during Cook's second voyage, 1772-1775. He took command of the Discovery following Cook's death on the third voyage. He became a well known naval writer and had achieved the rank of Rear-Admiral before his death in 1821.
